University of Pennsylvania

Multi-year project to stabilize and reline 670 separate flue systems on 71 different chimneys in Penn’s historic Quadrangle, initially constructed in 1894, in University City, Philadelphia. The process includes specialized cast-in-place concrete reinforcement and stainless steel lining systems. Our unique approach negated the need to tear down and rebuild the existing structures, allowing the historic features to be preserved.

Boathouse Row

Commercial
Historically accurate reconstruction of chimney at Bachelors Barge Club, the oldest continuously operated rowing club in the US founded in 1853, on Philadelphia’s Boathouse Row. Sourced replacement of “Roman” iron spot brick and color matched lime mortar to replicate original construction details. Relined gas fireplace system and installed clay pots and custom copper capping to complete the project.

Villanova, PA

Complete restoration of 5 fireplaces and 4 chimneys. The project included flue relining, firebox replacements, exterior stone pointing, brick piers and bluestone chimney caps.

Berwyn, PA

Complete installation of masonry wood burning Rumford fireplace with Pennsylvania fieldstone after removal of existing damaged masonry chimney.

Wayne Presbyterian Church

Commercial
Removal and replacement of heavily deteriorated cast iron chimney system with insulated stainless steel lining system; exterior restoration of limestone, decorative copper cladding and ornate ironwork.

Stephen Starr’s The Dandelion Restaurant

Reconstruction and restoration of wood burning fireplace, completed during overnight hours between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Merion Cricket Club

Installation of 160′ tall pressure stack chimney system completed using specialized rope access.

Restoration of gas burning fireplace, historic lime mortar restoration of two chimneys.

Haverford, PA

Careful removal of unstable and over-extended chimney; restoration of remaining exterior and installation of new terra cotta chimney pots.

Cabrini University

Relined chimney with 65′ tall insulated stainless steel lining systems for two boilers and hot water heaters; installed custom-fabricated stainless steel capping.
